Azhagiya Theeye movie revolves around Chandran (Prasanna) who is approached by a girl Nandhini (Navya Nair) to break her proposed marriage with a software engineer Aravind (Prakash Raj) from USA. She is forced by her father who is a thug (Pyramid Natarajan) to marry this guy. Later Chandran hatches a plan by which he meets Aravind at a restaurant and tells him that Nandhini is madly in love with him.
And the big twist is that Aravind does not walk away and instead stays back to see that the ‘love birds’ get united which upsets Chandran’s plans and his life. He is forced to marry Nandhini at a registrar office and she is thrown out of her house. Aravind arranges a flat for them and leaves for US.
How the couple starts liking each other after a series of incidents forms the rest of the love story.

The movie is all about Surya (Arun Kumar), a MBA graduate, who decides to fight for the cause of the unemployed graduates. On coming to know about the evil desires of Education Minister Muthu Karuppan (Ashish Vidtyarthy), Surya takes cudgels against him. In turn the Minister bumps off one of his friends. Meanwhile, Surya floats an unemployed graduates association and takes the fight through the association to the Minister. The Minister eventually bans the association and kills Raghuvaran. Finally it is left to Surya to protest from inside the prison which forces the Chief Minister (Rajesh) to visit him personally and hold talks with him. Hearing his arguments, he gives in to demand and orders the arrest of the corrupt Minister

Natarajan (Delhi Ganesh) is a Brahmin house-owner near the Parthasarathy Temple looking for a right tenant for the upper portion of his house. He is very protective of his college going beautiful daughter Gayathri (Kanika). Since he often fears that the prospective tenant might romance with his daughter he filters all the people who come asking for the house. He rents out the house to five bachelor students who pretend to be good and later become a big headache for the father and daughter. On the advice of ‘Auto’ (Vivek), Natarajan brings Subramani (Madhavan) who charades himself as ‘Bottle Mani’, a dreaded thug to vacate the students. Incidentally Mani, who stays with his Jailor uncle (R. Sundarrajan), was thrown out of his house as he refuses to marry his daughter. Taking advantage of the situation, Mani befriends the five boys and starts staying with them.Priya (Sadha) is the daughter of a wealthy gangster (Fefsi Vijayan) and she is engaged to an affluent sadist ACP (Rahman). On the day of marriage Priya comes to know that her fiancée is already married and had murdered his first wife in a sadistic manner but her father forces her to marry him to cover up his illegal activities. She consumes poison just before the wedding time but was mistakenly kidnapped by Mani and Auto. Now Priya becomes one more addition in the upstairs portion. The rest of the story is how they fall for each other and how Mani saves her from the clutches of her dad and fiancee and marries her at the end.
