Sundar.C's movies have predominantly been comedies while an Arjun starrer immediately raises visions of an action flick with no dearth of stunts. So Giri, with Sundar behind the camera and Arjun in front of it, is exactly what their union promises - an action-comedy. Fortunately, both the action and the comedy portions of the movie have been handled competently, providing an entertaining time for the undemanding viewer.

Azhagiya Theeye movie revolves around Chandran (Prasanna) who is approached by a girl Nandhini (Navya Nair) to break her proposed marriage with a software engineer Aravind (Prakash Raj) from USA. She is forced by her father who is a thug (Pyramid Natarajan) to marry this guy. Later Chandran hatches a plan by which he meets Aravind at a restaurant and tells him that Nandhini is madly in love with him.
And the big twist is that Aravind does not walk away and instead stays back to see that the ‘love birds’ get united which upsets Chandran’s plans and his life. He is forced to marry Nandhini at a registrar office and she is thrown out of her house. Aravind arranges a flat for them and leaves for US.
How the couple starts liking each other after a series of incidents forms the rest of the love story.

Hard-luck strikes Narmadha when the release of her film-crucial for her career- gets delayed for want of more funds.
Bala sells his property to help Narmadha realize her dreams. Meanwhile, Mahesh (Kazan Khan) who is desirous for Narmadha's money hatches a plot to kill her. Narmadha suffers 'selective amnesia' when shenanigans try to kill her.
Narmadha's father supports Bala, who is now in total disarray after loosing money and self-respect. But Narmadha detests him.

The movie is all about Surya (Arun Kumar), a MBA graduate, who decides to fight for the cause of the unemployed graduates. Coming to know of the difficulties his friends face in their life to find a job in spite of having the necessary qualifications, Surya decides to wage a battle against the government machinery. A revolutionary writer Udhaya Murthy (Raghuvaran) masterminds Surya's moves against the government. On coming to know about the evil desires of Education Minister Muthu Karuppan (Ashish Vidtyarthy), Surya takes cudgels against him. In turn the Minister bumps off one of his friends. Meanwhile, Surya floats an unemployed graduates association and takes the fight through the association to the Minister. The Minister eventually bans the association and kills Raghuvaran. Finally it is left to Surya to protest from inside the prison which forces the Chief Minister (Rajesh) to visit him personally and hold talks with him. Hearing his arguments, he gives in to demand and orders the arrest of the corrupt Minister
