At school, Raghu beats up a kid for talking to Sujatha. They quarrel, and soon Raghu's family leaves for another village. Sujatha grows to be an attractive college girl, while the villain Raghu becomes a good-for-nothing character. On her way to college, Sujatha meets up with Ravi (Jayam Ravi), a poor but handsome, charming enthusiastic boy,and soon after their quarrels they fall in love. Meanwhile, Raghu’s parents, hoping that he will become a responsible person after marriage, decide to carry out his marriage with Sujatha. The whole story takes a turn when Sujatha’s parents learn about her love affair with Ravi. On the day of her marriage, Sujatha elopes with Ravi and the action hots up as they are chased by Raghu and his thugs.

The story revolves around DCP Paramaguru (Ajith) an efficient police officer who fights with the scum of the society.
Paramaguru (Ajit) lives with his sister (Anu Hassan) in Thenkasi of Tirunelveli district. He succeeds in getting selected for IPS and moves to Chennai to live with his father (Raghuvaran) at Anjeneya colony. Guru is intoleratent to injustice. Guru's father knowing this nature of his son, makes him promise to never lose his cool under any circumstances.
Guru meets Divya (Meera Jasmine), a law student and falls for her. An ex-convict takes up residence near Guru's home. He is the right hand of the local don Reddy who controls all the politicians. Guru's temper causes him to lash out at them and thus he is framed in a false case thus making him ineligible for the IPS post. Guru sues the police department and through a series of long dialogues wins his case and becomes IPS. How Guru Fights for justice and the poor forms the rest of the movie!!
Though Ajith excels in looks more than an angry young cop, his body language doesn't speak his role. Meera Jasmine, who comes in two songs, has nothing much to do. The movie starts with an interesting note that fades away completely after the interval. Manisharma seems to have copied the background scores from Vijayakanth films and his song compositions are average. The movie has famed down director Maharajan who won the audiences with 'Captain' Vijaykanth's 'Vallarasu'.
